Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light
The Lighthouse Outreach Center, a Christian based homeless shelter in Bartlesville Oklahoma has served thousands of people since its founding in 1992. With a maximum capacity of 75 people, the Lighthouse is the only 24-hour homeless shelter within a 50-mile radius.
Residents at the Lighthouse are given three meals a day and are required to attend weekly chapel services on-site if they are not working. Each resident has assigned chores to keep the Lighthouse clean and safe. They are responsible for the day-to day maintenance of both the living and common areas, including everything from routine cleaning to mowing the grounds around the facility. Working residents are required to pay 15% of their income to help offset operating expenses and to teach personal responsibility.
We have recently remodeled our kitchen and dining hall and constructed a new men's dormitory funded by private foundation grants. We completed a new chapel and classrooms in May 2017, funded by both private donors and a matching fund grant.
All of our funding comes from private donors, churches, and foundations. We are not affiliated with the United Way and function as a private 501-c(3) non-profit organization.
